I don't have any knitting to share, but I thought this little one is so precious I had to share. :)

Knitting again!

I first tried to pick up the shaped triangle to finish that up. I had gotten very frustrated with that project back in April or May when I last worked on it, so it probably wasn't the best thing to start with. I frogged back to the last lifeline put in but still ended up with the wrong number of stitches halfway thru the row...twice! I really like the shawl up to the point where I'm stuck now and I really want to finish it but I've put it away again for a while til I've done at least one less stressful project.

So for now I'm working on Minerva's Argyles a.k.a my Go Giants! lucky socks. I got the yarn with the pattern printed out from Karen in a football-a-long swap. The pattern calls for the socks to be knit flat and then seamed. At first I was going to knit them in the round, but I'm glad I didn't. Even though knitting socks flat kinda makes me feel like I'm "cheating", it also makes it feel like it going so make faster. I don't have a lot of knitting time during the day but it seems like I'm getting a decent amount done considering how slow I knit anyway. Here's where I am with them...

I'm also knitting both at the same time since I don't seem immune to SSS. I have both lace and sock projects in queue but I don't think I'll be starting any lace until shaped triangle is done (did I mention how frustrated I am with this project?!!) I think my next sock will be Caledonian Mist from the Pink Lemon. But I may be getting a bit ahead of myself even mentioning another project. At this point, I'll be happy just finishing my go giants!

Anyhoo, I think that's it for now. Be blessed and happy knitting!

I'm back...sort of

A few days ago Nancy left a comment asking where I've been. First, a shot out to Nancy for asking (It's nice to know someone notices when you're MIA :)). In my blog over the last year, I've posted at least a couple of times how life had gotten in the way of my knitting/blogging time. Consider this another one of the those posts. I'm sure all you moms (and dads) of school-aged children know that this is a pretty busy time of the year. Here in Jersey the children are just finishing up standardized testing, spring sports, band/orchestra, end of the year school trips, etc. I have children participating in all those things as well as things not involving school. We've also added this little guy to the mix

He's adorable, but soooo much work getting him crate/potty trained. It's almost like adding another baby to the family.

Anyway, all of that being said, I probably haven't touched my needles a handful of times since my last post. My hats off to all you knitters with families and dogs and full-time jobs and (you fill in whatever else you've got going on) who manage somehow to keep everything in order among those things and still keep churning out beautiful knitted pieces on a regular basis. Believe me when I say I've tried very hard to figure out how you guys do it, but to date I haven't gotten the knack.

So where does that leave the status of my blog, right now I'm not sure. I really enjoy writing it (when I actually do it, that is) even though It does seem I'm mostly writing for myself (although Nancy has me kinda hopeful that people are actually reading it :)). School ends in about 3 weeks so I probably won't be able to post anything again before then. After that I just will have to see how things go. I still have all the projects you've seen before on the needles and a couple I'd like to start. See you in few weeks when things have calmed down a bit.

Blessings and Happy Knitting!!

Coming Along...

The Shaped Triangle shawl is coming along nicely. Now that I've been using lifelines, there hasn't really been a need for them (go figure). Since I'm a very slow knitter and I'm knitting this against a deadline, I've set aside all my other knitting to get this one done. Pretty much any free time where I can sit and knit I'm working on it and at the rate I knit It will have still taken me 2 months to finish the whole thing. Actually I might have been finished if the "snag" didn't happened, but probably not-as I mentuioned, I'm a veeery slow knitter.

Anyway, I couldn't really get the lighting right but I decided to post a couple of dark, blurry pictures

That's it for now. Hopefully, my next post will show it done! Happy knitting.

Shawl stalled again

The shaped triangle has hit a snag again. I'm not exactly sure what I did, I think I may have added a couple of yarnovers at the beginning of a row. I tried, but wasn't able to repair the error in a simple way. The pattern was moving along so well so I havent been using lifelines (stupid me). Even though I have some time still, I am working this project on a deadline. I'm going to try to figure this out in the next couple of days. I may have to frog all the way back to my only lifeline on row 11 :(, or attempt something like this. Neither option is something I look forward to, but I'm gonna have to pick one.

I had promised a pic of my red sock a couple of posts ago, and here it is...

Sorry about the pic, I waited all that time to take it on a sunny day to get decent light, but that was too much! But as I said its just a plain red sock, nothing spectacular, but I like it :).

GIANTS WIN!!!!

The Giants pulled it off! It was an SUPER game. For any football-a-longers looking for pics of my Super Bowl knitting, there aren't any. I'm not a knitter who can knit and watch t.v., not even mindless stockinette, so my usual football knitting is spent splitting my attention between what I have in my hands and what's on the television. I didn't feel like doing that yesterday. Eli was great! The defense was awesome! The offense came up BIG when they really needed it! It was a well deserved win for the G-men.

There's no shame for the Pats though. Even though they lost yesterday, they had a tremendous season that they definitely can and should be proud of. As happy as I am for the Giants win, I would have liked to see Junior Seau get a ring. He's been a great player in the NFL for a long time (I think 17 or 18 years) and he's come close a couple of times, but he is part of a team that won 18 straight games. I say that still makes him and his team part of "ever", even without the Super Bowl win.

We had a lot of fun watching the game. I was he only person actually cheering for a team. My husband just wanted to see a good game, son #1 was cheering against the Patriots and son #2 was cheering against the Giants. It was fun and funny. We didnt do too much as far as having alot of snacks for the game. The usual chips, soda...kinda boring. Like I said in my last post, my girls don't really like football. My oldest does like to bake, though. So this is her contribution to our little Super Bowl gathering.

She even watched a little of the game, but her only comments were about how cute she thought Peyton is when they would show him in the box at the game.

Hopefully there will be knitting pictures/content tomorrow. Blessings and Happy knitting.

Happy Super Bowl Eve!

We are a football family even if our loyalities are divided. #3 son and I are Giants fans, my oldest 2 boys are Eagles fans, my husband grew up really diggin' the Pats but now says he really has no loyalty to any one team. My oldest daughter says she's a Dallas fan but I don't think she can tell you why (and I really don't it has anything to do with Tony Romo, but I could be wrong :)). Daughter #2 doesn't really like football, but she does like to sit and knit with me sometimes during the games on Sundays. The baby is only 3, he'd rather be playing.

We are really looking forward to tomorrow's game. Even though just about everyone has counted Eli and the boys out, you can NEVER say never! Eli has been very consistent throughout the post-season (can you say zero interceptions boys and girls?) I think they have a better chance at winning than people give them credit for, but we will see tomorrow.

Anyway, back to knitting. In my last post I did say that I would have pics of the socks I'm working on. I'm really sorry but I missed a couple of chances to get the pics this week. We've been extra busy with midterm exams, doctor's appointments, a winter concert and work when none of those things are going on. So I have no pics of the current socks. So to hold you over here's a pic of the pattern I just bought yesterday

These are Scarborough Fair and Caledonian Mist from one of my favorite designers, Melanie. I really like both patterns a lot. I have a few patterns in queue besides the work that is OTN so I'm not sure when I'll get to either pattern, but I have some yarn that will be perfect for the Mist socks...I think they might push something else down the list a bit.

Enjoy the Super Bowl!
